In the News: Free Funding Information Center Established in Zanesville

David Holmes, regional training coordinator at the Foundation Center-Cleveland, recently visited our newly established Cooperating Collection in Zanesville, Ohio, which is housed at the Muskingum County Community Foundation and provides free access to the Foundation Directory Online Professional and other funding information. While visiting Zanesville, Mr. Holmes presented our free class, Grantseeking Basics, for the public served by the new Collection. Very well-received, the Zanesville Times Recorder ran an article about the event that includes some nice quotes from audience members along with this one from Mr. Holmes: "It was a great group, very eager to learn. I'll probably be back to do other classes. Anything we can do that can help folks find more potential funders is what we're about."

If you are interested in learning more about our Cooperating Collections and how to establish one in your area, or how to schedule Foundation Center training for your group, we would love to hear form you.

Free Funding Information Centers Gathering in Cleveland

The Foundation Center-Cleveland is playing host June 5-6, 2008 to the national gathering of Cooperating Collection staff members at the annual Network Days conference. Cooperating Collections are free funding information centers supported by the Foundation Center that are located in libraries, nonprofit resource centers, and other host agencies throughout the nation. Chances are, wherever you are, a Foundation Center outlet is nearby!

At the first two sessions, the Foundation Center shared its goal of having established 400 Cooperating Collections by year end. We currently stand at some 380! We are particularly interested in rural areas, areas with concentrations of unique populations, or any location where there is a need for a free funding information center.

If you are interested, please find out about establishing a collection, and of course, we invite you to tell your colleagues who may be interested. The Foundation Center is committed to reaching anyone anywhere who needs access to authoritative information about philanthropy, grants, and grantseeking. Our Cooperating Collections play a significant role in our ability to do that.

I hope to blog about additional sessions at the conference, introducing you further to our Cooperating Collections.
