Background:
The Northeast Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure—along with those who generously support them with their talent, time and resources—is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in the community. Through events like the Race for the Cure, they have invested $12 million in local breast health and breast cancer awareness projects in 15 counties. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Komen Northeast Ohio Affiliate stay in the Northeast Ohio area while the remaining income goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Programs supporting research, awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.
Current programs:
The Northeast Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure offers grants for innovative projects in the areas of breast health and/or breast cancer education/outreach, screening, or treatment support projects targeting services not otherwise available to the medically underserved populations of the Northeast Ohio Affiliate. The request forms for the April 1, 2009 - March 31, 2010 grant cycle will be available in the fall of 2008.
Funding Needs:
Komen seeks both monetary donations and corporate sponsors for fundraising events.
