Have you heard the buzz about sustainable development goals (SDGs)? You may have heard that this is a global effort that involves 17 goals lead by the UN and global leaders.
Sounds big, right? Well, it is. But make no mistake: it’s not so big that you can’t connect with the movement and make a valuable contribution.
From alleviating hunger and fighting poverty, to improving gender equality and increasing clean energy, there are so many ways that the goals encompass work that nonprofits and NGOs across the globe are already doing. Here are four ways you get up-to-speed and find a way to connect:
1) A great first step to getting more connected and gaining a deeper understanding of how SDGs work globally and locally, join us for a free webinar “How to Connect Your Work to the Sustainable Development Goals” on Thursday, June 30 from 2:00-3:00pm ET.
2) See how the goals involve different areas of nonprofit work by checking out some of the latest data on our SDGfunders.org site! SDG Philanthropy platform supports the initiatives through content, connections and conversations.
3-4) Below are two SDG-related reports from IssueLab to help you explore the scope of the movement.
Since its inception in July 2014, the Post-2015 Partnership Platform for Philanthropy has created vital linkages between an emergent philanthropy sector from around the world, the United Nations (UN) and some governments. It is leveraging the strengths of these stakeholders to contribute to the achievement and localization of the SDGs.
Over the past year, spurred by the work of the SDG Philanthropy Platform, philanthropy has emerged as a more active stakeholder in the global conversation around the Post-2015 Development Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a result, solid groundwork has been laid for philanthropic organisations to cocreate transformative solutions to achieving the SDGs.

Hope you join us on the 30th. Until then, stay tuned for more great SDG content over the next few weeks!
